Met A Man Who Drives A Spark

Had business to do at the bank in town the other day, and parked next to a little blue car with a man pacing next to it. Kidding around, I asked him what it was gonna be when it grew up. That got him started.

He said that gas costs too much nowadays so he can no longer afford to drive his '150 dualie' (Ford F-150 pickup with four rear tires) for work. The job requires 200 miles travel every day, so he got this little hybrid from Chevy and gets 50 miles to the gallon. (The official rating is 39 miles per gallon on the highway). The car cost him ten thousand plus tax and license, the payments are quite small.

The way that he calculates it, the money that he saves on fuel each month is just about equal to his car loan payment, so essentially he is driving the car for free.
