Trace gases together traditionally compose about 0.038% of the atmosphere (or 0.043% with CO2 at the increased 2014 concentration).
0.0400% carbon dioxide / CO2
0.001818% neon/Ne
0.000524% helium/He
0.00018% methane/CH4 - the main component of natural gas
0.000114% krypton/Kr
0.000055% hydrogen/H2
The Earth's atmospheric methane concentration has increased by about 150% since 1750, from approximately 0.00007.2% by volume. The current rapid methane increase that is already started from melting of ocean-bottom methane crystals could begin killing forest biomass and food crops in as little as five or ten years.
